I am looking for advice on selecting all the correct components for the suspension and steering on my 73' Scout. I would like to go with a little lift, keep the SUA and will be replacing (atleast) the front drums with disc brakes. I will probably be using a tire no larger than 33s. Here is what I am thinking:
Skyjacker -4” Lift Heavy Duty U-Bolt Kit -CPT-SUA-UBOLTPLT-KIT Heavy Duty Shackle Kit -CPT-SHACKLE-KIT-5 Body Bushings -SII-BOD-BUSH-KIT-POLY Front Shock Tower Kit -CPT-SHOCK-TOWER-KIT-DEX Bilstein Shocks -5100 Series? Heavy Duty Rubber Bumpstop -CPT-BUMPSTOP x2 -Plus bolt on Brackets x2 Castor Shims (4*) -SHIM-2 -Center-pin (5/16th or 3/8th?) Pitman arm, Hysteer arms, etc.? Not sure if any of these will be necessary My Tie-Rod and Drag-Line will be needing replacement as well and so I was curious what you guys might recommend. Currently, I have a stock Dana 30 for the front axle. Should I consider any other parts/components for this? As I have mentioned elsewhere, this is my first vehicle restore so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David Last edited by kastlerock; 07-04-2009 at 06:53 PM.. |

I'm moving this to the "Product Question" forum David so Jeff will see it more readily! Thanks for the inquiry!

David,
The only thing that I would add to your list is extended brakelines. We have the whole kit for $155. As for the tierod and draglink we carry stock draglinks($105) and heavy duty CPT tierod and draglinks for $150 each.

Thanks, Jeff. In regards to the heavy duty drag-line/tie-rod, will these items work with all other stock components; hysteer arms, etc.? In my list I inquired about the pitman arm. Would you recommend a different one from the stock one or can I reuse it? Again, thanks for everything.
P.S. You guys up in Grass Valley yet? |

Hysteer does not go with a SUA lift. Our tierod/draglink is a direct replacement for the stock pieces. As for the pitman arm I would leave the stock one in there.
We're still in Loomis but have the ball rolling for getting up to Grass Valley. The goal is to be up and running up in GV for Jan. 2010.
