Ian, I been DVRing your show for a couple years now. I really like how the show is put together. You cover a lot of areas.
One of the impressive things you do is your wiring Sure you can rebuild all them axles, tranny's, and fab stuff. But you do a great job on showing how to laying out the wiring. It takes about 1 minute on the show, but it would be nice to know how many hours you spend on different stuff.

What seats are you thinking of

Any pic's would be great!!!

To answer a few questions:

Time: Each show takes about 10 days to make, I will have about 5 days with a camera and 5 days without a camera crew. We don't have any invisible mechanics, all the work done on the trucks is done by me, or my shop assistant Chris.

345: I was thinking of a Ramjet Small Block...but changed my mind....you will see why.

Ian,
Love the show.

I have discussed building a IH 383 HiPo stroker for the project but sounds like that is all taken care of.

Thanks for the info on the show. Can't wait to watch it.

The "flex-fuel" concept is something I'm REALLY interested in given all the current issues I'm experiencing regarding just running E10 in old iron for both myself and customers!

Hope yawl elaborate on the preventative measures used regarding fuel system plumbing, fuel tanks(s), carb setup, etc.

I'm having to change MANY of my practices in the shop now to accommodate the E10 stuff which has been phased in over the last ninety days or so. And as IHON expands fuel system-related product offerings we need to be able to provide E10-friendly components since that is now all we can run!

Thanks for addressing a "non-traditional" project, that's enuff to make me turn on the teevee again Ian!

WOW! This is about the exact same set-up I've though of for my Scout, except I was planing on going to a Dana 300 with the 4:1 low range kit and twin sticks. I really don't need an Atlas for what I do.

But the flex fuel is going to be really cool to hear about. I've been debating between that or a Mercedes OM617 diesel swap in mine. Whatever it takes to make her affordable to drive every day!

Also, are you guys going to be doing an engine rebuild? Maybe we could address the cam bearing issue on there?

Ian,

There is not really an "issue" regarding IHC-app cam bearings, it's just a matter of correctly INSTALLING cam bearings and then verifying.

And then performing all the needed service regarding the entire lube system. These engine are COMPLETELY different from any Chryfordrolet in the lube department and will bite ya on yore azz real bad if ya don't pay roper attention!

We have SEVERAL threads regarding this lube system and it's related issues in the "GAs Engine Tech" forum . Check these threads when ya have time fpor some background. Also, in the next few days I'll be building a 345 inna "budget" fashion which will home in on the lubrication system service inna proper manner:

The Sonjamotor Lives!

and:

durabond cam bearing spit holes

and:

durabond cam bearing spit holes

and

IH lifter rattle syndrome, What is it and do I have it?

and:

oil pump rebuild

and:

5 Post Rocker Assembly

This thread has to do with the SAME subject even though it originally started out as a carburetor-related question. We've now determined that this engine was assembled using the WRONG oil pump and oil pump pickup which is resulting in continued oil starvation, this will be corrected this coming week:

http://www.ihonlynorth.com/forums/ca...k-avenger.html

That oughta be some light reading for ya so ya can see how badly the typical "aftermarket" service side of the bizz scruus up IH stuff. Since these motors went out of production around 1984, NO ONE except old farts knows much about 'em in the service sector. But IHOIN is now becoming THE business for proper engine parts AND service processes.

Stick with us! We'll be glad to work with ya on building the motor PROPERLY.
