SD's Scout II

Finally getting around to posting pics of this Scout II. As with some of our projects this Scout came in for a "few things" but ended up getting quite a bit of work so I thought I'd post up some pictures of the work performed. I didn't get any before pics but did eventually start to take some while it was here and some finish pics were also taken.

The long list of repairs and modifications were:

- Installed Alcan Springs front and rear
- Repaired parking brake
- Fabbed and installed rock sliders and corner guards
- Installed a gas tank skid plate
- Straightened and rebuilt rear axle and installed a Detroit Locker
- Installed IH Customs roll cage
- Repairs to fuel injection system were performed
- New rear brakes were installed
- Driveshafts were rebuilt
- Installed a PartsMike hysteer kit
- Installed GM front brakes
- Installed Chromoloy front axle shafts
- Installed shoulder seatbelts

One thing replaced was the upper ujoint on the front driveshaft. The stock Spicer ujoint was replaced with a Tom Woods offset ujoint. This gave the ujoint more clearance between itself and the yoke especially in full droop.





Rock sliders and corner guards were fabbed up.

Instead of bending up a cage a IH Customs roll cage was ordered and installed. Whats real nice about the IH Custom cages is the trick front plates that allow full access to the window handles and parking brake yet there is no compromise in strength or safety.



It was a little tricky making these special notch's but Darren got them fitted up quite nicely.
