My lil' bro's Scout is missing one of the duct pieces and the other hose is broken.
It appears to be standard 2" ducting. Will this stuff work: Defroster / Air Duct Hose - Universal, Hose - Air / Defroster; 2" x 72" Or is it crap and should I stay away from it and buy some sweet OEM stuff that has been in a box in someones garage for 35 years....

That stuff will work fine Chris.
I know it's "tight" to get in there, but to secure the duct, I use zip ties around the OD of the hose like a "hose clamp"...CAREFULLY...that plastic duct work is rotten after all these years and easily broken...especially the mounting tabs. |

Like this: [IMG] This is in my truck -- my brothers is in way better shape. His hoses are super dry though.

I use that "Gorilla" brand duktape (heavy gauge black schnozz) to "reinforce" those ducts now any time I have one out. Just a nice layer of tape over the entire outside adds much durability and prevents the small chunks from disappearing when they do decide to leave the scene! |
